Standard Rates
The above table depicts what is referred to as the 'Standard Rate' and does not reflect any applicable discount, tax or surcharge/s. Standard Rates are indicative and clients should always refer to the Order Form for absolute quotes. Standard Rates are subject to change without notice outside of a subscription period.
Working Day
The Standard Rate depicts a working day of 8 billable hours. For clients who enter a subscription engagement, the working day entitlements may be worked across calendar days, for example a resource who worked 3 hours Monday and 5 hours Tuesday is a working day payable at the Standard Rate. For Time & Materials engagements, one working day must be used on one calendar day, and any residual unused hours are forfeited.
Outsourcing Offshore
There is an inherent challenge in tasking and quality assurance in outsourcing services offshore, due to language & communication barriers. This often results in dissatisfaction which could have been avoided if communication barriers were removed.ย
BAI's success in the use of offshore resources comes from carefully selected resources in both Australia and Vietnam, that allow for effortless communication. Client members will be dealing with local Australian resources who can then accurately engage our offshore resources, and transpose a clients requirements and vision.
To achieve this, a Solution Architect will be available for one hour, to every eight hours of billable work performed by an Offshore Resource at no additional cost to Subscription Engagements. For Time & Material engagements, there must be an equal or greater amount of onshore rescuing to offshore resourcing.
Subscription Engagements
Choosing a subscription model offers several advantages, especially for clients with ongoing or long-term service needs. In short, a Subscription Model offers up to a 30% discount on our services and dedicated resource members, when a client commits to a term of 6+ months and a minimum monthly spend.ย For clients who do not want a term or monthly spend commitment, Time & Materials engagements can be explored.
To be eligible for Subscription Pricing:
Minimum Term of 6 months,
Minimum Monthly Spend of $8,860 (8x Days - Full Stack Solution Engineer).
However, Subscription Models offer greater benefits than just pricing & discounts, including:
Discounted Services: Subscription Engagements offer discounts between 20% and 30%. Discounts are applied to all Fees & Charges payable during the subscription term.
Resource Continuity: Subscription clients have priority access to resources over T&M clients. With T&M, there is no guarantee that the same consultant or developer will be available after 30 days. We become part of your team.
Predictable Budgeting: Subscription offers predictable monthly costs, allowing for better financial planning as your resources can be re-appropriated towards different priorities during the subscription period. Subscription clients lock in their discounted rate for any additional work beyond their committed days. Subscription clients lock in their discounted rate for any additional work beyond their committed days.
Unused Hours Carryover: Up to 50% of unused hours/days in a month can be rolled over into the next month under a subscription.
Offshore Resource Management: Offshore engagements under a subscription include One Hour of Solution Architect consultancy for every day of Offshore Consultancy. This removes the ordinary risk of outsourcing, with our local resources ensuring your team and hours are always aligned. Each body of work performed by offshore resources under our Subscription Models is reviewed by a local Solution Architect before being implementation.
Time and Materials
The Time and Materials (T&M) model is a engagement structure where clients pay for actual days worked, rather than committing to a long-term contract. It is important to consider the following:
Offshore Outsourcing: Our subscription engagements account for resourcing offshore, with allocated time for local resources to manage delivery. T&M clients will be quoted for an equal or greater amount of local resources to offshore resources. On most occasions, this is not as cost effective as a subscription model.
We cannot commit: Work is performed on a per-day basis, with no guarantees beyond the agreement, as we need to allocate resources in advance. Resources working on your project may be engaged by other clients and unless you can wait for their availability, we will need to handover to another member which can sometimes cause some delays while the new member is brought up to speed.
Rate Changes: Standard T&M rates may increase every threeย months (but no greater than 7% per month), however subscription models allow for fixed rates for the subscription term.
Budgeting & Approvals: We will ask you to establish the budgeting and approval framework. With Subscription Models, our members work to the subscription entitlements. You will only be contacted if it would benefit our members to work additional hours on your project that aren't subscribed - for example, if work will dramatically speed up the release of a new feature, or if another requirement is being held up. However, in most cases this work will be performed in the next subscription month.
Agile Development & Project Scope
Agile First Project Scopes
BAI strongly recommends an Agile development approach, which allows for iterative improvements, flexibility, and prioritisation of high-value outcomes. This approach ensures that software development adapts to evolving needs, new insights, user feedback and your vision.
Prioritises the highest-value features first, in real time.
Allows changes and refinements throughout the project.
Reduces risk of delivering outdated or low-priority features.
Allows for true team augmentation.
For agile engagements, the Order Form will reflect high-level outcomes which our team will be working towards, unless your requirements or priorities change. You will be invited to contribute to these outcomes before submitting the Order Form. This Order Form will be considered the statement of works for these purposes. A traditional Statement of Works will only be prepared and attached to an Order Form in the rare event BAI agree to a "waterfall engagement" as described below.
Waterfall Engagements & Limitations
While BAI does not typically engage in rigid, fixed-scope Waterfall projects, we recognise that some clients must work to absolute and pre-defined plans. This is in contrast to the agile methodology and is commonly known as "waterfall". In the rare case BAI agrees to a waterfall engagement, there will be specific terms and conditions in the Order Form on a case-by-case basis. While each case will be different, the below are some common considerations and limitations.
BAI will review each request for waterfall engagement on its own merits and reserves the right to not enter any agreement for a waterfall engagement, even if previous work was through a waterfall engagement. Agreements for a waterfall engagement will be 30 days or less. Protracted ongoing work will require an updated agreement each 30 days and there is no assurance BAI will enter the same, or any agreement on the expired of another.
BAI will not enter or engage in any terms or conditions presented by a client during a waterfall engagement (for example, clients who wish to work under an engagement under their own form of Master Services Agreement will only be agreed to for Agile engagements and not waterfall).
Waterfall engagements with 'absolute' deliverables incur a surcharge of 50% due to increased risk and reduced flexibility.
A Statement of Works will be attached to the Order Form and form part of the Agreement, outlining each Work Item, Requirement, User Story & Task with set user acceptance & delivery criteria which cannot be modified.
Any scope changes, new feature requests, or modifications will require a formal change request process and will likely incur additional quotes fees.
Although BAI will act in good faith and make all reasonable attempts to deliver all agreed-upon items in a Waterfall SoW. However, due to the inherent uncertainties in software development, absolute guarantees cannot be made. Gross negligence in delivery will not be accepted. BAI is committed to reasonable effort, professional execution, and transparency throughout the project. Any grievances will be handled through
Fair & Transparent Delivery
For all engagements, whether Agile or Waterfall, BAI commits to Acting in good faith to deliver the best possible outcomes and we will:
Communicate clearly about prioritisation, challenges, and trade-offs.
Ensure reasonable adherence to the Order Form outcomes while maintaining flexibility to respond to changes initiated by you, or changes initiated by our team when it is essential to delivery of your project.
Accept accountability for gross negligence, but not for inherent uncertainties in software delivery.
Not conduct works or incur fees for any works not previously agreed to through either Subscription Entitlements or pre-approved T&M days.
Other Considerations
All engagements are governed by the Master Services Agreement unless another form is mutually agreed by BAI and a client.
Rates are reviewed periodically.
We may enter bespoke pricing or other arrangements on a case-by-case basis large-scale or long-term engagements. It is important to review the Order Form as a point of truth for fees and entitlements.
